Muslims today face a significant issue: despite the clear ayahs and the final revelation, they are repeating the same mistakes as past generations who were given the Book before them. The Quran warns us of this pattern in multiple verses.
In Surah Ash-Shura (42:14), it states that the previous communities did not split into sects out of mutual envy until knowledge came to them. This division arose despite the clear guidance they received, leading to doubt and conflict. Similarly, Surah Yunus (10:93) recounts how the Children of Israel, settled in a blessed land and given lawful provisions, began to differ only after knowledge was revealed to them. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Judgment regarding their differences.
Moreover, Surah Al-Imran (3:105) admonishes Muslims not to be like those who split into sects and differed after clear proofs had come to them, warning that such individuals will face tremendous punishment.
These verses highlight a recurring problem: the division and sectarianism that arise from envy and differing interpretations of knowledge. Despite the clarity of the Quran and the guidance it provides, Muslims today are walking the same path as those before them, falling into disputes and divisions. This not only undermines the unity of the Muslim Ummah but also contradicts the essence of the final revelation meant to guide humanity towards unity and righteousness.
